报告人简介：
Jong-S hi Pang, 南加州大学杰出教授、埃普斯坦家族讲席教授，美国国家工 程院院士。主要研究复杂工程与经济系统数学建模、运筹优化、均衡规划、非合作博弈论及约束动态系统。他历任多所海外顶尖高校重要学术职务，曾任美国国家科 学基金会项目主管、香港理工大学数学系学术顾问。作为ISI 数学类高被引学者、 多项国际权威学会会士，他斩获冯诺依曼理论奖、丹齐格奖等顶级学术荣誉，发表高水平论文160余篇、出版4部高引用专著,长期担任国际顶级期刊主编及编委，在运筹优化领域享誉国际。
报告内容：
AHeaviside fiunction is an indicator finction of a seni-infinite interval.AHeaviside composite finction is a Heaviside fiunction composed with a multivariate fiunction that may be nonsnooth This talk presents an introchuction of this novel clas of discontinuous optimization problems that borders on contiruous and discrete optimization Among the rich applications of such problens,we mention one petaining to classification and treatment with constraints solvable by an elementaryyet novel progressive integer programming(PIP)method that can be applied broadly to many other problems,inchuding indefinite quadratic prograns and linear prograns with linear conplernentarity constraints.Computational results demonstrate the excellent peformance of the PP idea and its superiority over a fill integer progranning approach.
